Meet Dr. Nir Barzilai,
Dr. Barzilai currently directs the Longevity Genes Projects, a genetics study of more than 600 families of centenarians and their children.
His goal?
To gain an even better understanding of the genetic factors that allow certain individuals to live so long (while staying healthy).
Dr. Barzilai has received a number of awards to date including,
- The Senior Ellison Foundation Award
- The 2010 Irving S. Wright Award of Distinction in Aging Research
- The NIA-Nathan Shock Award
- A merit award from the NIA for his contributions towards understanding the metabolic and genetic mechanisms of aging
On top of that, he’s been featured in TV programs, major papers and documentaries (including TEDMED and TEDx).
